Waht I want to do is compile the KOffice source, I download this:
http://download.kde.org/unstable/koffice-1.9.95.4/src/koffice-1.9.95.4.tar.bz2
But the is no way for me to make "./configure" and so on…In the Readme stands something about a file named "COMPILE" under the kdelib sources…but I dont find this file.

I hope, you can help me, to understand, how I have to compile the sources.

As far as filtering goes, can you use formulas together with companion columns?

I wish I had filters on kspread like in Open office to filter a selection from a column header.

What is your requirement for filters?

does anyone know how to center the printing in kspread?
It is the only feature I dunno (if it exists) as well as filters in kspread.
Otherwise it is quite a good material.

1. Sorting is limited to 3 fields.
2. For copying from the clipboard, try Insert >External Data >From clipboard
3. You can set cell backgrounds with Format >Cell Format : Background
4. I don't find any method for freezing titles. There is the possibility of splitting the view, which achieves much the same thing. See View >Split View.

3. Is it possible to highlight cells by changing he background color (say to red)?

4. I have a spread sheet with over 50 columns and 100 rows. I would like to keep the column headings visible when I scroll down, and the row headings visible when I scroll to right. Is there a way to lock the headings so that they are always visible?

I have an important (to me) spreadsheet running under Xess, and I would like to replace Xess with another program, perhaps Kspread. The new program should be able to do everything I did with Xess without too much trouble. Kspread seems to be able to do what I want, except for two items. They are:

1. It seems I can only sort on 3 sort fields, whereas I would like to have 5 or 6. Is there a way to do this. I can think of a workaround, but it's not pretty.

2. With my old spreadsheet program I could use the X11 to copy several columns of numbers, space delimited, into the X11 clipboard. Then I could go into my spreadsheet program, and paste from the X11 clipboard into the spreadsheet. The numbers would go into different columns in Xess but in Kspread, all the columns would go into one column. Is there a way to paste from the X11 clipboard directly into the spreadsheet and preserve the column structure? Again I can think of a workaround but it isn't pretty.

BTW, I really like the look and feel of Kspread.

I was wondering if someone can shed some light on this issue . How do we just underline some lines in cell. when u underline just some lines, all the text in the cell is underlined ! Pls help.

I followed the advice in the Pclinuxos thread, even though I was having no problem and I have found that in some situations the fonts render much better. I used 96 rather than 100. The sky did not fall down when I inserted the code into xorg.conf.

I don't understand it all, but basically the x-DPI settings are wrong. A quick work-around is to open the apps like this: kword —dpi 100,100

The real solution is to fix the xorg configuration, I guess. This thread has someinformation:

Any thoughts on how to fix this? Are there any places I can check for weird settings?

1. Installing, particularly when your distro does not have the package or the version you want and (in time) installing on Windows.
2. Templates, styles and dictionaries in KWord.
3. Scripting (on my agenda for KSpread).
