One subject not covered in the Handbook is navigating using key strokes. That is a significant part of using a spreadsheet because each sheet contains 32767 rows and 32767 columns. Listed are some key strokes you can use to navigate a spreadsheet document in kSpread.

In the table, "active cell/s" means the cell/s where the cell pointer is located. "occupied cell" means a cell containing data, i.e. the opposite of an empty cell.

Keystroke Result
home moves the cell pointer to the first cell in a row or the nearest occupied cell to the left
end moves the cell pointer to the last cell in a row or to the nearest occupied cell to the right
enter moves down one cell (can be altered in Settings >Configure KSpread > Misc)
right moves right one cell
down moves down one cell
left moves left one cell
up moves up one cell
pgdn moves down 10 rows
pgup moves up 10 rows
Ctrl + home moves to the first cell on the active sheet
Ctrl + up moves to the next occupied cell upwards in the column OR to the top of the column
Ctrl + down moves to the next occupied cell downwards in the column
Ctrl + left moves to the next occupied cell leftwards in the row OR to the first cell in the row
Ctrl + right moves to the next occupied cell rightwards in the row
Ctrl + pgdn moves to next sheet
Ctrl + pgup moves to previous sheet
Shift + end selects from the active cell to the last occupied cell in the same row as the active cell or the last column
Shift + home selects from the active cell to the first occupied cell in the same row as the active cell or to the first column
Shift + right selects from the active cell rightwards one column
Shift + down selects from the active cell downwards one row
Shift + left selects from the active cell leftwards one column
Shift + up selects from the active cell upwards one row
