Styles
The way to introduce standard formatting into a text document is to employ styles. You can, for example, create a style for text which is quoted from another source. Such text could be indented and, perhaps, italicised. You create a style by using the menu Format >Style Manager which opens the Style Manager dialogue. On the dialogue, press the button labelled 'New' to create a new style. Complete the details on the various tabs.
Typical of the simplicity of the software is the fact that there are very few default styles and the fact that you can delete those styles or alter them.
Dictionary
You can create a dictionary for a document using the menu Settings >Configure KWord which opens a dialogue. Select 'Spelling' in the left margin of the dialogue and you can enter words you want accepted and select the options you wish to apply.
Create template
To avoid the need to carry out these steps for each document, you can create a template. The template is a document which serves as a form for other documents. Once you have created the styles and dictionary you wish to use, make the document a template using the menu File >Create template from document. If, by the time you decide to do that, you have already entered text or other data which you do NOT want in your template, save it under another name and remove the unwanted contents. You can then delete the unwanted file.
Change template
Once you have created a template, it will appear in the list of blank documents you see when using the menu File >New. To change the template, create such a document, make your changes and use File >Create template from document. Choose (as the name of your template) the name of the template you wish to alter and, when asked, confirm that you wish to overwrite the existing template.
